The Yomiuri Techno Forum was founded in 2011, and have provided support for the development of science and technology in Japan. Each year, three Japanese scientists who have made outstanding achievements are selected and are awarded with a Gold Medal Prize.

Prof. Itami receives this award for his research on the “development of catalysts for rapid synthesis and the creation of functional molecules”.
